The JOHN W. BROWN Alumni Association is an organization for former maritime students of S.S. JOHN W. BROWN. Members include not only former JWB students and instructors but also students of previous New York City-based school ships, as well as honorary and associate members.

OUR GOALS

The goals of the Alumni Association are:

  • To aid in the future preservation of S.S. JOHN W. BROWN.
  • To keep Alumni Association members informed of JWB happenings and activities.
  • To collect memorabilia and historic articles on the schoolship years, and to display them in a schoolship museum aboard JWB.
  • To serve as a source for former students to locate classmates and old friends.
  • To work to preserve the JWB by assisting Project Liberty Ship in any way possible.

NOTE

If you have not been to JWB for a few years, be aware that the ship is no longer located at Pier 1 or Pier C. Rather she is at Pier 13, south and east of Pier 1. The street address is 4601 Newgate Avenue; Google the address to find it. The pier is located behind the coal piles, so to speak, for those of you familiar with the area.
